Cultivating Leaders, Building Unity.

From Roots to Wings Development Initiatives is a youth-focused nonprofit dedicated to nurturing leaders who stay grounded in their roots while leading with purpose, peace, and positive impact. We primarily support Black African-Canadian and Black immigrant youth, while welcoming young people from all communities who are eager to grow, participate, and lead. Our work aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals and is rooted in building inclusion, equity, and unity across society.

We help young people stay connected to their heritage while learning to adapt and succeed within Canadian society. Through mentorship, cultural education, and skill development, we guide youth to embrace their identity, build confidence, and become active, engaged citizens who contribute positively to their communities and to Canada as a whole.

OUR MISSION

We empower Black African-Canadian and Black immigrant youth to embrace their roots while growing their wings. Through mentorship, leadership training, peacebuilding, anti-racism initiatives, economic empowerment, educational support, and wellbeing-focused programs, we support their growth in confidence, character, and compassion. Together, we are raising young leaders who celebrate their identity and stand for inclusion, equity, and unity across communities.

To see Black African-Canadian youth deeply rooted in their heritage, leading with peace and purpose, and actively contributing to a more inclusive, equitable, and united multicultural Canadian society. Empowered with the wings of leadership, skills, and character, they build bridges across cultures and help shape a harmonious and sustainable future for all.
